In brief

  • Elliptic launched Pulse, an AI product that gives frontline law enforcement officers a plain-language financial summary of any wallet address or transaction hash in seconds, no blockchain expertise required.
  • A single click forwards the full analysis—reasoning and field notes included—into Elliptic’s screening and forensic-tracing tools or an agency’s own workflow, and the firm stressed human oversight keeps final judgment with the officer.
  • Elliptic raised $120 million from backers like Nasdaq and Deutsche Bank and has played a major role in recent law enforcement actions.

Blockchain analytics firm Elliptic has rolled out an artificial intelligence product designed to let ordinary police officers make sense of cryptocurrency they encounter in the field, without needing any blockchain expertise.

The tool, called Pulse and announced Wednesday, lets an officer input anything resembling a wallet address or transaction hash, then returns a plain-language financial summary within seconds.

Elliptic pitched it as a way to help frontline personnel decide on the spot whether a case warrants escalation, whether the crypto turns up on a suspect’s phone, in a scam victim’s receipt, or during a search, arrest, or overdose scene.

If a case needs deeper investigation, a single click forwards the full analysis, including the reasoning and the officer’s field notes tagged to a case number, into Elliptic’s existing screening and forensic-tracing tools or an agency’s own workflow.

The idea, the company said, is that the detective who picks it up doesn’t need to be a blockchain specialist either.

“We built Pulse because we see crypto across every law enforcement agency now, not just specialized units,” said Jackson Hull, Elliptic’s chief technology officer.

The London-based firm said Pulse runs on the same intelligence behind its investigator-grade platform, which it says screens more than 99% of crypto trading volume and covers over 65 blockchains.

Elliptic also framed the product around a governance framework it published this month for agentic AI, emphasizing human oversight, model transparency and the officer retaining final judgment rather than the AI making decisions.

The launch builds on a busy stretch for Elliptic. The firm raised $120 million earlier this year from backers including Nasdaq and Deutsche Bank, and its research has surfaced in major enforcement actions, from a Secret Service crypto freeze tied to a Telegram marketplace to the DOJ’s seizure of infrastructure linked to billions in laundering, plus findings on Iran’s central bank acquiring USDT.
